
Steve Allison has dedicated much of his life to public service and education in Texas. Best known for his tenure as the Texas House Representative for District 121, Steve has been a steadfast advocate for public schools. His commitment to education stems from a deep-rooted family connection to AHISD. His wife, Peggy, is a proud 1965 alumna, and both of their sons graduated from AHHS. Their legacy in Alamo Heights continues, with a grandson in Pre-K at Howard and their daughter-in-law teaching at Cambridge Elementary.
Prior to his legislative service, Steve spent 12 years on the AHISD Board of Trustees, including three terms as President. He chaired several key committees and was pivotal in addressing school finance challenges, particularly through his advocacy against recapture. He also served on the Texas Association of School Boards, earning recognition as a champion for public education.
Professionally, Steve built a distinguished career in law after earning his degree from the University of Houston Law Center. He served as an Assistant District Attorney before spending over 46 years in private civil practice, specializing in business litigation and healthcare law. He also contributed as a mediator, arbitrator, volunteer prosecutor, and municipal judge for the City of Terrell Hills. His legal expertise earned him a Fellowship in the Texas Bar Foundation and leadership roles in the Defense Council of San Antonio.
During his time in the Texas House, Steve served on committees for Public Education, Public Health, Appropriations, and Tax Relief, earning numerous recognitions, including "Champion of Education," "Legislator of the Year," and "Hero for Children." His lifelong dedication to education and public service continues to have a lasting impact on Alamo Heights and the broader Texas community.
